Korean car manufacturer Hyundai plans to start the construction of an engine plant in November 2018. The factory will be built on 200 hectares ground at Kamenka industrial zone, next to a car assembly plant owned by Hyundai itself.
150,000 units 1.6 litre engines are planned to be manufactured at the new factory annually, for all Hyundai models produced in Russia. Currently, the engines for the automobiles assembled in St Petersburg are brought from China. The company had previously announced the planned investment in the project as 27 billion rubles. In fact, Hyundai plans to double its production figure in the new enterprise.
