Russian car market has increased by 18% within the first half 2018

Russian car market (new car and LCV sales) increased by 10,8% units in June 2018 in comparison with the same period of the previous year, and amounted to 156.351 vehicles, announced by the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC).

Within the January – June period of this year 849.221 cars were sold in total, which indicates an 18,2% year-on-year rise.

LADA is the most populer brand of the Russian car market in June 2018 with 31.404 units sold.  LADA Vesta is the best-selling model in June with 9843 units.

Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB AMC commented: “Pace of market recovery in June softened somewhat relative to what we have seen so far this year. Still, nearly 11% year-on-year improvement is a very respectable result, especially in the light of the ongoing world cup event in Russia. In addition, thanks to strong sales in the preceding months, vehicle inventories are rather lean across the industry, dampening sales growth if only temporarily. All in all, the first half of 2018 has been successful for the Russian car market, and there is good reason to believe that the positive momentum will continue in the coming months.”
