GAZ Group has signed an agreement with AzerMash in Baku, proposing commercial vehicle assembly, as told by the Russian company to RNS.
The construction of a facilty is planned in Azerbaijan in 2018-19, for the assembly of GAZ commercial vehicles within the framework of the agreement. The annual capacity of the facility will be 1000 vehicles.
The assembly of GAZelle Next and GAZelle Business LCVs, as well as medium tonnage GAZon Next trucks will start at the facility by the end of 2019. There are plans to manufacture various versions of special vehicles based on the basic GAZ models, including vehicles for municipal services, ambulances and school minibuses.
The parties have agreed to cooperate on the use of a number of components manufactured in Azerbaijan in locally assembled vehicles, during the implementation of the agreement.
GAZ will organise the supply of auto components for assembly production in Azerbaijan, the training and certification of specialists at AzerMash and the provision of the necessary documents and licences.
The vehicle assembly will be organised at Hajigabul Industrial Zone.
